3D Blu-ray video standard final product launch imminent

The Blu-ray blu-ray 3d movie Disc Association has released the final specifications for 3D Blu-ray video. 3D Blu-ray uses a codec called H.264 amended Multiview Video Coding (MVC) to provide stereoscopic 3D images, which is compatible and, surprisingly, using only the data from about 50% higher average 2D equivalent.

The new standard includes menus and subtitles in 3D, and works with many display technologies existing and yet-to-be-released, and the PlayStation 3 (via a firmware update in progress). Full specifications will be available “soon” and provide the necessary technical information to manufacturers and content providers to design, publicize and implement 3D products on the market.

Although many people – myself included – have little interest in 3D media, BDA Global Promotions Committee Victor Matsuda said that when the option, viewers prefer to watch movies in theaters in 3D on 2D. Are you planning to buy 3D linked when available? And ‘this a new trend?
